Certificate course in Islamic Studies

The Centre for Religious Studies offers a Certificate course in Islamic Studies in order to strengthen Christian Leadership for mission among Muslims in South Asia.

An academic approach to Muslim tradition about the life and teaching of Islam’s messenger.

The One-month course provides a solid foundation for understanding Islam and Muslims with a view to joyful evangelism and disciple-making. This course is an academic approach to Muslim tradition about the life and teaching of Islam’s messenger.

*A Hybrid module includes one week of lectures at SAIACS campus and 3 weeks online classes. Fully online for International students.

 

 

Entry Requirements

The candidate must have the ability to read, write and understand English

Upon completion of this course the student should be able to: 

  • Understand the main lines of the story of the messenger of Islam as Muslims understand it
  • Understand the primary sources of the story and sayings of Islam’s messenger
  • Understand the insights of the best scholarly studies on the development of these traditions
  • Identify key truth claims about Islam’s messenger and articulate helpful avenues of response

Course Lecturer: Dr. Gordon Nickel (PhD, Islamic Studies)

Gordon works between Asia and North America, where he is currently writing a commentary on the Qur’an. He is also South Asia co-editor for the ongoing reference project, Christian-Muslim Relations.
