SAC2011 - 2nd SAIACS Annual Consultation
15-18 November, 2011

"CHRISTIANS IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE"

CALL FOR PAPERS

The second SAIACS Annual Consultation is planned for 15–18 November 2011 at SAIACS in Bangalore, and has as its theme “Christians in the Public Square”. The consultation has about sixteen sessions, where each session consists of an academic paper presented by a specialist in the relevant field (whether academician or practitioner), followed by an open discussion. The specific outcome of the consultation will be a book, consisting of the edited papers and published by SAIACS Press.

The aim of SAC2011 is to explore how Christians can or should engage with public issues. We have chosen the following sub-themes:

> politics & government
> science
> business
> ecology
> social justice
> legal justice
> medico-legal issues (e.g., euthanasia, abortion, cloning, stem-cell research)
> arts & culture (performing arts, fine arts)
> education
> sport
> (any other)

We welcome proposals for papers (300-400 words) on one of the sub-themes mentioned above. Proposals must be sent by e-mail to sac2011@saiacs.org before 15 June 2011. The organizing committee will select the papers to be presented by 30 June 2011.

Selected paper presenters must aim to present original, unpublished research that breaks new ground rather than repeat what previous studies have done. The paper must be between 6,000 to 7,000 words (including bibliography), following the SAIACS Style Guide. There is a twofold remuneration: Rs 500/– on presenting the paper, and Rs 2,000/– on submitting the final manuscript. We will reimburse the paper presenter’s travel within India by air (cheapest economy fare) or train (2 AC), and provide a comfortable AC-room in our conference centre. Paper presenters are requested to arrive on Tuesday 15 November 2011 before 4.00 pm, and they can leave after the closing lunch on Friday 18 November 2011. For information and updates, please consult this page.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee.
