CAMPUS LIFE: What They Say...
Kidese Kraho is touched by the fact that “the students and staff of SAIACS come from different places and background but live as a community by eating together and meeting in cell groups.” Parvathe Gowda is surprised that there is no class or division among Faculty, administrative staff , service staff and students and all are treated equally. Lalit Kumar Bardhan finds SAIACS’ emphasis on excellence in academics, spiritual formation and mission very admirable. Vijay Paul says, “ I have never seen a community (such as SAIACS) where people from diff erent ethnic and language groups gather together to have fellowship.” Binoy Chacko for whom this was the first experience in a theological school, says, “the SAIACS community is very warm and welcoming, the first Sunday sermon on Joshua by Dr. Babu Immanuel was very encouraging and the welcome session from our Cellgroup on the first Friday was most enjoyable.” Students are also greatly impressed by the academic standards of SAIACS. Shantiram Solanki from Madhya Pradesh thanks God for bringing him to SAIACS. He says, “Within a month I could experience tremendous changes, especially in the area of studies, and the family experience at SAIACS is most attractive.” Mrs. Hannah Terang almost gave up her studies when she found the standards of education expected at SAIACS were very high. She says, “the encouragement from my husband, friends and teaching faculty and above all, God’s presence with me is pushing me on to complete my studies and not give up.” Mothi Mary, feels there is so much to learn and experience at SAIACS. Though it is quite early in her learning experience, she concludes that SAIACS is “the best place for academicians who want to broaden their Christian vision.” “The freedom to express and exchange our thoughts and ideas is wonderful,” says Kiran Kumar. He is already beginning to feel the effects of such exchange shaping his critical faculties. Elayaraj is overwhelmed by all the academics in the first few weeks, that he calls SAIACS “ a world of wisdom.” The well-qualified faculty of SAIACS impresses Peter Thein Nyunt. He hopes that his stay here would deepen his religious opinions and shape him up for the ministry. To some, SAIACS is an enigma. They came with the impression that life would be all studies and books, and there would be no life outside the classroom and library. Levino Liegise was pleasantly surprised to find that more was happening in cell-groups, the responsibilities in the Chapel, and building of relationships, that she concludes, “Life at SAIACS is much more complicated and interesting than what I expected!!” Susan Jaison George sums it all up, with a statement on what is very unique to SAIACS, “I am moved by the beauty of the campus and I promise to try to keep this campus neat and clean.”
