ADMISSIONS POLICY

The following policies govern all admissions to SAIACS. Check for additional entrance requirements under each diploma or degree qualification.

Accountable Candidates

SAIACS is committed to serving the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ through its visible and local manifestations. Therefore, it is the policy of SAIACS that only those applicants who are recommended by a local church, denomination, mission or established Christian organisation, will be considered for admission.

To be recommended means that the applicant will be accountable to the recommending body for the entire duration of the study.

In other words, an applicant who is independent, in the sense that he or she is not accountable to any local church, denomination, mission or Christian organisation, will not be accepted by SAIACS, even if he or she undertakes to fully pay the prescribed fees.

Accreditation of Qualification

SAIACS will accept only those whose requisite degrees are from colleges or seminaries which are Government recognised, accredited by the Asia Theological Association, affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College, or are from other institutions recognised by the SAIACS Academic Council.

Acceptance of SAIACS’ Pastoral and Academic Authority

All students must sign a declaration and pledge, submitting to the right of the SAIACS administration to take any appropriate action, if, in their judgment, the student’s behaviour, character or doctrine is contrary to the spirit and emphasis of SAIACS.

Students must also agree to accept and abide by the decisions of the SAIACS Academic Council. This means that, after a written warning, personal or academic issues can lead to termination of study at SAIACS.

For Day Scholars

Admission Regulations students may be admitted as day scholars provided that:

They satisfy the Admissions Committee that personal or family reasons exist which prevent them from residing on campus for the duration of the programme requirement.

They reside within a reasonable distance from SAIACS (say 30 minutes drive).

They give a written undertaking upon registration that they will abide by the regulations governing day scholars and that they will earnestly seek to participate in the corporate life of the campus community as much as they are able.
