DOCTOR OF MINISTRY (DMin)
The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) is a non-residential degree. Based upon
the student’s specialisation, the student will earn one of the following
degrees:
- Doctor of Ministry in Missiology
- Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Ministries
Purpose
The Doctor of Ministry programme provides advanced training and relevant
ministry applications within biblical and theological frameworks in the
context of students’ present and future ministry. It is the highest
professional degree for those engaged in local church and para-church
ministries, world missions, and applied training, but it does not lead
to Ph.D. The programme is deliberately offered “in ministry”
rather than “in residence”, and, as such, requires meaningful
experience in ministry. Each course assumes ministry experience and endeavours
to integrate learning with the student’s ongoing ministry and goals.
Structure
The DMin degree will require 4 core modules, 4 specialty modules, a thesis
project, and residential requirements of the modules in October and April
of each academic year.
Year-1 Four core modules in 2 blocks with 2 weeks of residency in each
block and assignments
Year-2 Four speciality modules in 2 blocks with 2 weeks of residency in
each block and assignments
Year-3 A thesis project (150-200 pages) including 2 blocks of 2-week residence
sessions
While students are expected to complete their thesis project by the third
year of their studies, they may take up to 5 years to complete the programme
on payment of the annual fee for each year of extension beyond three required
years.

an extension of time has been granted or a relevant medical certificate

in small groups of their specialty areas, for peer encouragement and comment.

M.Th. courses at SAIACS, with assignments and grading at D.Min. standards.
They may do this for one month without extra fees. For two or three modules,

module as an independent supervised study under a lecturer who has expertise
in a particular subject area not offered that year.
